Check back in the Spring for 2012 racing information!
Short Ships Race is a fun, three-mile race for recreational and racing rowers and paddlers. This event open to fixed and sliding seat, singles and multiple oars, gigs, kayaks, canoes, prone and stand-up paddleboards (SUP.) The race follows a triangular course inside the breakwater on Rockland’s semi-rough, saltwater harbor. One leg of the course parallels the Rockland Breakwater for excellent public viewing. The Apprenticeshop waterfront includes two launching beaches, a launch ramp, and docks for boat use. Ramps and beaches have water mid- to high-tide range. The race is followed by healthy snacks, informal awards and good-natured fun.
