Group Sailing Classes
Learn to sail and meet new people! We offer a variety of classes designed for all skill levels, taught by Apprenticeshop sailing instructors using our fleet of traditional wooden boats.

If The Apprenticeshop cancels a program session on or prior to the first day for any reason, a full refund or credit will be provided. If a customer cancels within 10 business days of the first day of a program or session, no refund will be provided but a 25% credit may be applied towards another program before the end of the year. If a customer cancels more than 10 business days in advance of the first day of the program they will receive a full refund, less processing fees.

Waiting List
If a session is fully enrolled, you may register to be placed on a waiting list in the event space becomes available. You must make an account in our registration system in order to register for the waitlist for any program. A deposit is not required to join the waitlist. The list is compiled in order of the date registrations were received.
If a spot becomes available, we will notify you that space has become available and will be held for 24 hours. Please be aware that availability can change on short notice.

Try Sailing
3 Hour Group Class
Maximum 6 Participants Per Class
Skill Level - Beginner
Ages 16+
Tuition - $96.00
Looking to try sailing for the first time? This group class is the perfect introduction to the basics of traditional sailing! Each class can accommodate up to 4 people. All participants will have opportunities to practice their sail trimming and steering skills. Besides understanding how to sail, you will come away with a basic knowledge of the parts of a boat, safety on the water and the “rules of the road” when operating a vessel under sail in a harbor.
Sailing Skills - 5 Day Course
Maximum 6 Participants Per Class
Skill Level - Beginner & Intermediate
Ages 16+
Tuition - $475.00
This 5 day group class is perfect for complete beginners or sailors who want to build their skills.
Beginner skills covered may include the following; parts of the boat, rigging/getting underway, useful knots, identifying points of sail, risk assessment, observing conditions, tides and currents, tacking/jibing, rules of the road, laying a course, docking/picking up a mooring.
Intermediate/advanced skills covered may include the following; advanced rigging/different types of rigs, reading a chart, bearings, lines of position, laying courses, anchoring, reefing, heaving to, man overboard simulation, advanced docking scenarios.
Private Lessons
Looking for a private lesson? Contact us! We are happy to assist you with arranging a private lesson that fits your schedule and skill level.
Rates start at $80 per hour for 1-2 participants, Please inquire for larger group rates (maximum 6 participants). All private lessons are a minimum of 2 hours.
