Free Community Sailing

Free Friday Community Sailing at The Apprenticeshop is an opportunity for any and everyone to get out on the water and go sailing! We invite the public down to our waterfront campus to get on board one of our ‘Shop-built boats at the most beautiful time of day. Space is limited and available on a first-come first served basis. Community sails are always free and there is no pre-registration, just come down to the waterfront and sign up! Our volunteer skippers and crew will lead you on a fun exploration of Rockland Harbor; no sail is ever the same! Try your hand at trimming the sails or just sit back and take in the sunset and lapping waves.

Every First and Third Friday of the Month: June 19th - September!
4:00 pm- Sign ups open, first come first served, no pre-registration
4:45 pm - Meet your skippers and safety talk
5:00 pm - Boarding, return to dock between 6:30 - 7:00 pm
Please gather at the Bosun’s Locker, located at the head of the Apprenticeshop pier to check in with a volunteer and sign up!

Free street parking is available on Main St. (short walk up/downhill to/from Bosun’s Locker) Or limited free parking is available in our waterfront parking lot, accessible via Boat Ramp Road.

Sunscreen and a warm layer - even summer days get chilly as the sun goes down!
Snacks & drinks are welcome (no alcohol please)
Adult and youth universal lifejackets are provided by the Apprenticeshop and required to participate.
Please bring your own infant life jacket if you are bringing a very small child.

Sorry, we love dogs but we do not allow them on board for public programs. Our parking lot is not shaded so please leave your furry best friend at home and not in your car. Thank you!

We are always accepting new volunteers to help with Free Community Sailing! Jobs include shoreside support, experienced skippers, and crew.
